Running is the foundation of many sports and also a pastime in itself. Running-related injuries are pervasive and manifest as acute (muscle strains, tears) and chronic (tendinopathies, overuse syndromes). When indicated, modifying running technique can be vital for reducing injuries and enhancing speed and performance. Identifying irregularities in one’s running gait does not improve performance in isolation, however. It takes a skilled practitioner to coach an athlete into the behavioral changes necessary for lasting success. This is where our physical therapists excel. We utilize a progression of drills and running related cues to develop better foot strike patterns, cadence, stride length, and overall mechanics. Fluid running as an aesthetic that is obvious to even the untrained eye. Running is a trainable skill and we have successfully implemented our system with highly competitive and recreational runners and team sport athletes.
